I need to get better at this 'posting' thing

Hey again!

Another year's passed, another year of not posting stuff (on here anyways.) I'm going to try to make it more of a habit to post stuff on here along with my Art Station and trying out Behance.

Anywho, long story short no longer living in the middle of cornfield Indiana. After an exhausting 3 day trip cross country, I've found myself surrounded by palm trees and more artistic people than I can shake a tablet pen at in sunny California. So far, I've been enjoying it though it will never replace being close to family. It is enjoyable seeing how much more focused on the arts it is out here compared to back in Indy.

Seeing as the last time I posted I was heading to SIGGRAPH in Vancouver I will mention that I attended SIGGRAPH as a Volunteer again this year in Los Angeles (the trip there was so much easier, and more showers were involved.) It's always fun seeing people more my age who are just as excited about the industry as I am, if not more.

Ok, well it's 2:15 AM here so I'll leave off for now with a little piece I'm working on. Hopefully I'll be signing in before next year!

Life update

So I just want to put an update on here that isn't really pertaining to art.

From August 6th-August17th (or maybe the 18th, I keep forgetting), I'm going to be leaving for Vancouver for the SIGGRAPH convention there in which I was chosen to be one of the lucky few to be a Student Volunteer!! Super excited for multiple reasons, but the main one being what a great experience for a young artists to be able to meet and network with not only fellow students in similar fields from all over the world but also professionals in our field who are geeking out over cool stuff just like the students are. I'll be sure to post the pictures I take and tell everyone how much fun it was!!

Spriggan Update2

So I'm pretty much done with the surface texturing of my little Spriggan. Now I just need to texture her and pose her and then she'll be done! (Unless I decide to try my hands at rigging her, which shouldn't be too awful hard)

Spriggan

I just realized that I mentioned that I've been working on Skyrim-type artwork this quarter and I never posted the Spriggan I've been working on all quarter. A spriggan is a type of forest spirit that brings a bunch of different tree sections together to form their body and proceed to attack the character you're playing in the game. I've always enjoyed their look and I wanted to make my own.

As a digital painter at heart, that's how this started out. I was painting my little heart out trying to get it to look just right when I saw a couple people in class 3D modeling in Maya, which made me want to open up Maya and try my hand at modeling my little spriggan.
So I drew her in the usual T-pose and started modeling her. Now that I'm happy with how she looks in Maya, I'm bringing her into Zbrush 4r6 to add not only some surface textures so she looks more like a tree creature, but also when I'm ready to texture her. I'm really excited for this to be finished.

Ice Wraith WIP

I'm not entirely sure what has been up with me making things based off Skyrim this quarter but here's my second piece that I've started working on. It's going to be my version of an ice wraith. I'm excited to see where it ends up since I'm liking how it looks right now. I'll be sure to keep you posted! :)

Doll and Teddy

The very first digital painting I created while going to school at the Art Institute where I can actually say that I like it, which is a pretty big deal for me. It felt great being able to say that I liked something that I made myself. There are still things where I wish I could've done better and maybe at some point I'll go back and fix it or maybe even recreate it when I've gotten better.

Done in: Photoshop CS6, 4 hours

Little Brother Characatures

Just quick little expressions I drew waiting for 7:30 to get here so I could start working. Based on all the little faces my brother makes throughout his usual day.
