I just realized that I mentioned that I've been working on Skyrim-type artwork this quarter and I never posted the Spriggan I've been working on all quarter. A spriggan is a type of forest spirit that brings a bunch of different tree sections together to form their body and proceed to attack the character you're playing in the game. I've always enjoyed their look and I wanted to make my own.
As a digital painter at heart, that's how this started out. I was painting my little heart out trying to get it to look just right when I saw a couple people in class 3D modeling in Maya, which made me want to open up Maya and try my hand at modeling my little spriggan.
So I drew her in the usual T-pose and started modeling her. Now that I'm happy with how she looks in Maya, I'm bringing her into Zbrush 4r6 to add not only some surface textures so she looks more like a tree creature, but also when I'm ready to texture her. I'm really excited for this to be finished.

Ice Wraith WIP
I'm not entirely sure what has been up with me making things based off Skyrim this quarter but here's my second piece that I've started working on. It's going to be my version of an ice wraith. I'm excited to see where it ends up since I'm liking how it looks right now. I'll be sure to keep you posted! :)
Doll and Teddy
The very first digital painting I created while going to school at the Art Institute where I can actually say that I like it, which is a pretty big deal for me. It felt great being able to say that I liked something that I made myself. There are still things where I wish I could've done better and maybe at some point I'll go back and fix it or maybe even recreate it when I've gotten better.

Little Brother Characatures
Just quick little expressions I drew waiting for 7:30 to get here so I could start working. Based on all the little faces my brother makes throughout his usual day.
Lunar Tree
An piece I originally designed for a family member to use in her pamphlets but ended up not using because it didn't fit in with the rest of the designs. I can't really complain though, I got a neat piece out of it. I think painting the moon is one of my favorite things to do in Photoshop.

Mermaid in the sink
Based on a Shel Silverstein poem in his last book titled Everything In It. I'll edit this post later when I look back at the book to get the title of it and maybe post an excerpt from it (I'm not sure I'm allowed to post the entire thing on here since it isn't my poem though I guess if I give him credit it should be ok?)
This piece was a lot of fun working on. I had originally started this piece back at the beginning of my second year of college, but I stopped working on it for multiple reasons. It was a really neat idea that I really enjoyed though so I restarted it and I'm really happy with the outcome.

EDIT:
Here's the poem by Shel Silverstien
MER-MAID
We caught a mermaid in the creek.
We keep her in the sink.
We give her worms and snails to eat
And lemonade to drink.
She washes all the pots and pans.
She scrubs 'em with her scales.
She showers 'neath the faucet tap
And tells us fishy tales.
She sings us songs, she plays Go Fish,
She's happy as can be.
But now and then we catch her cryin',
Lookin' out to sea.

King of the Kaiju
After seeing the new Godzilla movie and his new design, I couldn't help
but make artwork with him in it. It was so good, if you love the old
Godzilla movies then I'm sure you'll really enjoy this one. It was very
reminiscent of how the older movies were and that's really what made me
want to go see it in the first place.

Refurbishing and Repolishing
Hey everyone! Well practically 3 years later from my last post (talk about consistent) and here I am one quarter away from graduating. I'm planning on cleaning up this blog and making it more professional and using it as a way of getting myself out there more. I've already set up a Facebook page, Tumblr page, and a LinkedIn where I can post my artwork but I'm going to really try to start posting on here again since Blogger is a better more organized way of posting without getting too cluttered. So here goes my quest to make my internet presence more professional. Wish me luck!
